Who we are
We are the nation’s first community-centered public-safety infrastructure—designed through lived experience, grounded in practitioner expertise, and powered by responsible innovation.
CodedChange is a Black-led, national organization transforming how safety is understood, supported, and sustained in communities most impacted by violence. Our origins are rooted in years of direct practice across the Community Violence Intervention (CVI), social-service, healthcare, education, homelessness, and crisis-response ecosystem.
Technology has reshaped every sector, yet the workers who protect, heal, and stabilize communities have been left without tools built with them in mind. CodedChange exists to change that.
Our philosophy is anchored in a simple but powerful truth:
Those who experience and respond to harm firsthand hold the deepest insight into how safety should be created and protected.
Our interdisciplinary approach draws from:
Trauma-informed and healing-centered frameworks
Community-based participatory research
Human-centered and justice-centered design
Innovation and protective AI principles
